Pokhara- Muktinath - Jomsom Trek

Muktinath Shrine (@ an altitude of about 3800 m) is considered as one of the eight most scared and ancient Hindu Shrines dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu (Other 7- Srirangam, Srimushnam, Tirupati, Naimisharanya, Thotadri, Pushkar and Badrinath) and most divine for Tibetan Buddhist too. The worship is conducted by a Buddhist monk.  In Hindu literature, Muktinath means Lord of Mukti (Mukti= Moksha, Salvation, Liberation from the Cycles of Birth and Death).

The outer courtyard of the temple has 108 water sprouts made of Bull faces from where the sacred water comes through. The water is considered as most holy water which has the magic power of washing all the sins, all the impurities as devotee believe. This is the reason that the devotees take their sacred bath even in a freezing temperature.

Day 01: Kathmandu:  Arrive KTM, meet, warm welcome and transfer to hotel. Welcome drinks, briefing on programs and check in to hotel. Free overnight hotel.  

Day 02: Pokhara (210 km, Breakfast)

 After breakfast, check out from hotel and start journey to Pokhara not later by 0900. On arrival welcome drink and check in to hotel. Rest or free for roaming around the famous Lakeside. O/n hotel.

Day 03: Jomsom (Approx 3800m) 205km

After early breakfast (or packed breakfast) start driving to Jomsom via Beni about 8-9 hrs. The On the way refreshed and enjoy lunch at local restaurant. After refreshment continue to Jomsom. On arrival transfer to hotel. Rest and get acclimatization. Later walk around the local market or prepare for Muktinath journey. Dinner and overnight hotel.

Day 04: Jomsom – Muktinath - Jomsom:

Early morning, drive to Ranipauwa about 1 and half an hour and walk or take horse ride to Muktinath Temple about 20 minutes. After reaching temple, take a sacred bath in the divine water coming through 108 Bull faces sprouts, refreshed and start worship the Lord Vishnu, The Muktinath. After finishing all the puja activities start journey back to Jomsom, the same way. On arrival, get in hotel. Lunch and free day. Rome around the local market. Dinner Overnight.

Day 05:  Pokhara (205 km)

 After breakfast, check out from hotel and start journey to Pokhara not later by 0600. On arrival at Pokhara, transfer to hotel. After lunch, proceed to sightseeing tour covering Bindhyabasini, Seti River Gorge, David's Falls, Gupteswore Cave. Back to hotel. Free for own activities. O/n hotel.

Day 06:  Kathmandu: 

After breakfast drive back to Kathmandu. On the way Buffet lunch. On arrival at Kathmandu transfer to hotel. Later tour to Swayambhunath stupa. This is one of the world's most glorious Buddhist Chaityas, said to be 2000 years old. Painted on the four sides of the spires base are the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. Around many Buddhist stupas different Dhyani Buddhas are seen in different meditative posture. Swayambhunath, is the best place to study the Dhyani Buddha as there are 5 Dhyani Buddhas here facing five directions. It is situated on a hillock about 77m above the level of the Kathmandu valley hence commands an excellent view of the valley. The stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal. It was also listed in the UNESCO world heritage monument list in 1979.

Patan Durbar Square : Proceed and visit Patan Durbar Square. It is an enchanting mélange of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. This Square was the former Royal Palace Complex which was the center of Patan. It is also UNESCO world heritage site. Free. O/N hotel.

Day 07:  Kathmandu Exploration: 

Pashupatinath: After breakfast visit Pashupatinath, the temple of lord Shiva, is the holiest shrines for million of Hindus, with two tiered golden roof and silver doors. Although only Hindus are allowed inside the temple, visitors can clearly see the temple and the activities performed in the temple premises from the eastern bank of the Baghmati River. This temple was also listed in the UNESCO world heritage monument list in 1979. Just south of this temple, one can see the last rites of Hindu dead bodies at the cremation site. 

Afterward visit Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is also another important UNESCO world heritage site. You will witness Old Durbar Square, Kasth-mandap temple, Kumari temple (Temple of Living Goddess), various other old temples. Continue to walk up to Thamel market, getting through the local vegetable, cloths, jewelry Bazar. Later enjoy Farewell Dinner at Chinese Restaurant. Back to hotel. After lunch free day for shopping or own activities. O/n hotel.

  Day 08: Departure: (Breakfast): After breakfast free. Check out from hotel and free till transfer to airport for final destination with the sweet memories.
