About

Annapurna Circuit Trek

This trek around the entire Annapurna is about 300 km. You will trek through lowland villages to the remote Manang region, through a pass (5,416 meters), and through the Muktinath and Kaligandaki valleys. There are two famous Himalayan valleys, Manang and Mustang, along the way which maintain the living heritages of the Gurung, Manangi, Magar and Thakali cultures. This trek starts from Besishahar, about a five hour drive from Pokhara. The first few days you trek with a view of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges and then you enter the Manang Valley. The trail continuously follows the Marsyangdi River with the beautiful Himalayan settlements of Pisang, Humde, Ngawal, Manang, etc. Along the way there are numbers of monasteries, lakes and caves that are worth visiting. The Tilicho Lake, at 4,920 meters, the lake situated in the highest altitude in the world, is also possible by doing a side-trip of an extra 3 to 4 days. Crossing the pass is challenging because of bad weather and altitude problems, but if you follow the prescribed itinerary and listen to your body you can still do it easily. After the long descent from the pass you reach Muktinath, where you join the Jomsom trek, and if you are running out of time, you can fly from Jomsom to Pokhara and save one week.
